Why Choose Margaree?

Margaree is designed for physicians, by physicians. We understand the legal and logistical challenges of working in the medical cannabis industry. We support our physicians and their practices by equipping them with the education and information necessary to positively impact patients’ lives with medical cannabis. We strive to keep our physicians updated with changes in the medical cannabis world and ensure their practices remain compliant.

Patient Follow Up

Regular follow-up appointments are arranged to help ensure our patients are receiving the care they need. Depending on each individual’s needs, their prescription may need to be adjusted to a higher dosage or patients might need to try a different strain of medical cannabis. At Margaree Health Group, we schedule follow-up appointments and are always available to assist patients with correcting the dosage and products used with their medical cannabis prescription.

Margaree Health Group consists of physicians with over 2 decades of experience in working with active military, veterans and first responders. We are committed to our patients and their unique needs. Our healthcare professionals are also knowledgeable of Canada’s ACMPR guidelines (Access to Cannabis for Medical Purposes Regulations set out by Health Canada), which healthcare professionals and licensed producers are required to follow.

Physician Network

We have a network of physicians across Nova Scotia to help serve patients in any location. Since our physicians will see patients in their own offices, we can help provide community-based care to our patients. This approach allows patients to be discreet when they enter a physician’s office, since they will have anonymity through a typical healthcare clinic setting compared to a typical medical cannabis clinic.

Are you referring a patient who is a Veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces or the Royal Canadian Mounted Police?

Physician Training

We have experienced support staff who will come on location to train your administration staff in the proper procedures necessary to execute the medical document processing, as well as patient registration with the registered licensed producers. These staff are well versed in the processes involved with Veterans Affairs Canada and what extra steps need to be taken with these clients.

As support staff, for those first clinic days for Margaree, we will be on site to assist with any questions/issues that arise immediately. Once you and your staff are comfortable without the assistance on site, know that our support staff are available at any time for the duration of your partnership with Margaree. We have established relationships with license producers and can help facilitate training offered of their individualized products and programs available for your clients.

What does the new Cannabis Act mean for healthcare practitioners?

The Cannabis Act came into force on October 17, 2018. Since that date, new regulations have replaced the Access to Cannabis for Medical Purposes Regulations (ACMPR). Your patients that are registered under the ACMPR do not need to do anything at this time as their current registration has transitioned automatically to the Cannabis Act and new regulations.

"True North spoke to several groups about potentially taking over Margaree's cannabis prescribing; CHC really impressed us with their Veteran focus, and their willingness to donate to Veteran causes.  They are clearly the best choice to take over Margaree." Dr. Mark Johnston
